I teach 2nd grade...in the same county..


Although not at your child's school. I know this because, 1. We already did our famous Americans unit. And 2. We don't give any homework.
I am amazed each time they redo our SOLs, Columbus is still on there. I do like that unit though. Teaching the kids about Thurgood Marshall, Jackie Robinson, Hellen Keller, ect...is a lot of fun....although it is a challenge for kids to not get mixed up. George Washington Carver was NOT related to George Washington....and neither were friends with Abe Lincoln. If that's all my kids learned, then I will be happy....because I think that was asked daily.
